Welcome to Sticks and Stones Folk Art

Nova Scotia Folk Art direct from the artists!

We are Maggie and Laurie Horton Nova Scotia Folk Artists who work together on all our art work. We do most of the figures from driftwood or pine branches that have blown down in a storm.

Maggie Horton, Nova Scotia Folk Artist

We have been creating folk art since 1994, travelling around Nova Scotia to beaches, gravel pits, and places where land is being cleared, collecting shells, stones and driftwood and anything we can use to make folk art.

Our entire home has become folk art work area. Some people laugh with us, others laugh at us, either way everyone is laughing! We enjoy the fact we can bring smiles to faces everywhere. Our motto is "We deal in smiles, come in and laugh at our work!". Maggie calls us hillbilly folk artists; Laurie calls us gypsy artists as we roam around looking for material to use. We pack the cooler with food, taking our propane camp stove to cook our meals for the day, and the hunt is on!
